Book of Remembrance

This year parishioners will be able to enter the names of those who have died in the Book of Remembrance online beginning November 1. Starting November 1, visit our SJB website, www.sjbssparish.org, and click on Book of Remembrance. Please enter individually the names of the deceased to be remembered.

SJB Walking with The Word

All men and women over 18 years old are invited to join us Saturday mornings 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. in the Lyon Center. Deacon Ed McCormack facilitates the gathering as we unpack scripture in an atmosphere of fellowship and community. The ZOOM room opens at 7:15 a.m. and we get under way at 7:30 a.m. and conclude at 8:30 a.m.

2022 St. John the Jogger Run/Walk

The Knights of Columbus Council 11106 at St. John the Baptist parish is working in collaboration with St. Camillus Food Pantry for a fun-filled event for the whole family. The St. John the Jogger Virtual 5K and 1M run/walk for St. Camillus Food Pantry will take place between May 7, Mother’s Day weekend to June 19, Father’s Day 2022. Participants will receive a cool T-shirt with all proceeds to benefit St. Camillus Food Pantry. As virtual event, you can run/walk (or jog) at your own pace in order to accumulate miles. Last year, the St. Camillus Food Pantry provided nearly 18,000 meals to hungry families and needs financial support to continue its mission. A Night at the Races Saturday

Saturday April 30, 2022, 6 p.m. – 10 p.m., St. John the Baptist (Outdoor Venue, Lyon Center Parking Lot) Join us for a derby themed night of fun in support of our amazing parish and school community. The annual SJB Gala took a 2 year COVID hiatus but is back to bring us together again and raise funds for our gym and school. This is a 21+ parish & school event and will feature Kloby’s BBQ, beer, wine, non-alcoholic drinks, racing games, door prizes, online auction, and more.

2022 Lenten Reflection Series

Join us each Friday during Lent for a Zoom presentation. Each night begins at 7:00 p.m. with a presentation followed by opportunities for dialogue and sharing. Our theme this year is: “Open Wide Your Hearts – The Enduring Call to Love” Our goal is to help participants identify ways to: ➢ recognize that each one of us is a beloved child of God with unique gifts and talents ➢ genuinely welcome those who are different from ourselves ➢ move towards a new vision of what our community could be ➢ actively listen and respond to the challenges Jesus presents us each day

Synod Participation Sunday, February 20

St. John the Baptist Parish will participate in the Synod by hosting a Listening Session to reflect on our faith experience in the light of the Synod’s theme of Communion, Participation, and Mission. We will begin with prayer and allow time for sharing in small groups, and in the large group, as we listen to the Spirit together. Our parish session will be held on Sunday, February 20, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. beginning in the Church then in the School. If you wish to participate, please be at the Church by 2 p.m. Sunday, February 20. Thank you for your participation.

Inclement Weather Information

This year St. John the Baptist School closings for weekday weather related cancellations/delays will be determined by Montgomery County. The Parish Office follows the Federal Government for cancellations and delays. Despite the weather and related closures, Mass will always be celebrated.

Chapel Hours

The Chapel will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, when the Parish Office is open.

Advent Adoration Reflections

Your Christmas parties may have already begun, but the Church is still keeping the season of Advent. One of the traditional themes of Advent is The Four Last Things: Death, Judgment, Hell, and Heaven. Sobering stuff! But rather like a sharp winter wind that makes you all the more ready to gather around the creche at Christmas. Immediately after the 9 a.m. Saturday Mass on December 18 the Eucharist will be exposed for adoration. The reflection will be followed by opportunity for confession, and we will conclude with Benediction at 10:35 a.m

Feast of the Immaculate Conception

The Feast of the Immaculate Conception is a Holy Day of Obligation. Masses will be at 7:30am, 9:00am, 12 Noon, and 7:30pm.

Thanksgiving Holiday

There will be one Mass on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 25, at 9:00 a.m. The Collection will be for the Community Fund. The Parish will be closed Thursday, November 25 and will reopen Monday, November 29, at 9:00 a.m.. The clergy and staff of St. John’s wish all a Thanksgiving filled with many blessings.

Parish Reconciliation Service

Our Advent Reconciliation Service is scheduled for Monday, December 20, at 7:30 p.m. in the Church. There will be additional priests available to hear confessions. Please note, it will not be lengthy.
